Sunday 21st September Open gardens to celebrate 30 years of Permaculture
It is 30 years since Bill Mollison and David Holmgren penned their
visionary wisdom into the legendary book Permaculture One, the first
glimpse into a new way of thinking and living.
To celebrate this milestone Permaculture groups around Victoria will
be showcasing their lifestyles for the public.
The Spring Equinox will see an abundance of activity
with Open Gardens, information stalls, talks, films and
more.
Two wonderful Permaculture Gardens will be open:
9am – 5pm
Entry $5
Yarra Valley Permaculture Group is running an open day at Heather &
Andrew's Permaculture Farm in Dixons Creek. (65 km from GPO).
Tours will include their passive solar house, waste water composting
system,
large vegie patch, orchard with 100 varieties of fruit trees, off
grid solar
system and more. There will be talks about Permaculture and food security,
displays, wildlife photograph gallery and stalls selling
organic refreshments, books, plants and seeds.

Petra and Jeff's home in Ashburton will display 300 square metres of Permaculture garden featuring many low-cost sustainability features
as well as a solar cooker,
other energy saving ideas and a 3-bay-compost,
water-catching holes, swales and puddles, grey-water and a water tank
- talks by local permaculturists on plants, water, and energy
- information on compost, water, energy, bush foods, plants, books
as well as local groups and courses
- for sale will be herbs and other plants, heritage seeds,
information sheets, books and some special hardware like Hiko
seedling trays.
