Heritage
Fruits Group - The Heritage Fruits Group
is a non profit group within Permaculture Melbourne
whos aims include saving, for future use, heritage varieties
of fruits from all over Australia which may be held
in private, business and government collections.
We aid in the preservation of these by conduction grafting days, teaching people to graft and grow fruit in their own situations, and each year we are usually asked to save a family's favorite old variety. We also collate a large database of varieties and curators which include photopraphic information as well as documentation of varieties.
In 2000 the Heritage Fruits Group took on the responsibility of managing, documenting and extending 'the collection' of over 200 varieties of apples at Petty's Orchard. This will be extended to include our collections of plums, pears and other heritage fruits in the future. The collection also demonstrates a number of commercial and heritage varieties in different tree management techniques and trellis systems; this is the largest collection of apple varieties on mainland Australia.

VEG Victorian
Educators' Group - The Victorian Educators' Group is a group of Permaculture teachers who work in cooperation rather than competition. We share ideas and teaching strategies, course content, philosophy and sometimes projects.
An ongoing
project of VEG is the updating of " A Syllabus for
Permaculture Design in Cool Temperate South Eastern
Australia." This is a resource to help Permaculture
Educators plan Permaculture Design Courses. It covers
the whole PDC curriculum as required by The Permaculture
Institute and includes additional material relevant
to our local bio-region. Educators interested in using
this resource are invited to contact us.
